High Holyday Appeal 2011

Dear Supporter,

Hillel says, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? But if I am only for myself, who am I? If not now, when?"

Ethics of the Fathers, 1:14

At a time when all sectors of Israeli society have come together to demonstrate peacefully for greater social justice many of us here, watching and reading the news, ask how we can support them in their quest for equal rights and a fairer society for all?.

The Israel Movement for Progressive Judaism is at the forefront of this call for change. Progressive Rabbis and their communities are present at the tent cities in Israel, up and down the country. Many Israelis are encountering Progressive Judaism for the first time and they are encouraged by what they learn. Equal rights, social justice, respect for the rights of minorities, a just peace – are all concepts only now being discussed in Israeli secular society. As the High Holy Days approach Progressive Judaism in Israel needs our help and support as never before
